Caroline RutzIllustrator and press cartoonist
Caroline Rutz, known as Caro, has always had a passion for illustration, and studied graphic design at the Biel School of Visual Arts. At the same time as her studies, she began drawing for the press.
Today, she works regularly for various newspapers (Vigousse, Le Matin Dimanche) and magazines, in which she expresses herself on regional, national and international subjects with a grating and sarcastic tone. Caro also hosts debates and conferences with her live drawings.

«As an illustrator, I’ve always been convinced that a picture is worth a thousand words. A drawing has the unique power to convey a message immediately, much more effectively than a long speech.
When I discovered the work of the Digger Foundation, dedicated to humanitarian demining, and Frédéric Guerne explained the details to me, I was deeply moved. So when I was asked to do a series of drawings to illustrate the participatory approach to raising the funds needed to send a demining machine to Ukraine, I didn’t hesitate for a moment: I put my pencil lead to work for demining!
Each mine neutralised represents a life saved, a land returned to its inhabitants, a child able to play without fear. Through my illustrations, I wanted to make the children of our region aware of this reality, in the hope of awakening in them the desire to get involved and support, in their own way, the actions of participative financing. But the real work happens on the ground, and the people involved in the Digger Foundation are real superheroes!»
